In the GREAT WHITE NORTH where Rizal was given a home in Markham, the Filipino Canadian community gathered this morning of December 27, 2025 to commemorate his 129th MARTYRDOM anniversary with a WREATH LAYING ceremony… we are pleased to share this album to our fellow patriots in diaspora… as we braved the -12 C blustery winds and a foot+ thick snow drifts from last night’s snowstorm dump, representing all kababayans in Canada at this full Rizal monument that Markham Filipinos had gifted to the peoples of Canada on behalf of all Filipino Canadians in this country… MABUHAY Rizal & sambayanang Filipino!

It was a beautiful but somber Saturday evening as members of the Markham Federation of Filipino Canadians (MFFC), dignitaries and the public stood before the Jose Rizal memorial in Markham and held a candlelight vigil following the fateful events in Vancouver on April 26, 2025 at the Lapu Lapu festival. Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti as well as Regional Councillors Joe Li and Alan Ho and MP Michael Ma spoke in turn to express their support for the Filipino community.
